About the author

Leo A. Gordon MD is one of America’s leading medical educators. His reconfiguration of the traditional morbidity and mortality (audit) conference has attracted international attention. His lectures and seminars on transforming this essential conference into a vibrant patient safety program have played a major role in the patient safety movement.

Born in New England, schooled in the Midwest, Dr. Gordon received his surgical education in Boston. He has practiced general surgery in Los Angeles for over twenty-six years.

Dr Gordon is the author of Gordon’s Guide to the Surgical Morbidity and Mortality Conference, described by the Journal of the American Medical Association as a “... cult classic to be.”

Dr Gordon serves on the editorial board and is a frequent contributor to General Surgery News, America's most widely read surgical news monthly. He is the originator of the M+M Matrix - an error and complication-reducing medical curriculum generated from the morbidity and mortality conference.
